Idiom content
The app retains its first 30 entries and adds 150 common idioms. The new entries' short Chinese definitions, modern examples, English meanings and English example translations were newly written for this project rather than imported as dictionary passages. Common idiom phrases and basic pronunciation are general language material; this does not establish that the complete edited dataset is free of all copyright risk. The original 30 entries were also written for this project, retaining their order and main wording. The project's Content Sources and License Review provides more detail.
The project has not imported definitions, examples or dictionary data from chinese-xinhua. Although that repository includes an MIT license, its README states that the data was scraped from multiple websites. A repository license alone does not establish commercial rights to every upstream text. It was considered for research, but its modern dictionary text was not used for this expansion.
System services
The app uses Apple's SwiftUI, WidgetKit, StoreKit and system transliteration capabilities. Apple services are subject to their own terms. Apple, App Store and related marks belong to their respective owners; their names do not imply sponsorship or endorsement of this app.
Fonts and visual materials
The app includes Noto Serif CJK SC Bold from the official notofonts/noto-cjk repository, distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The complete license is included in OFL.txt. The website uses fonts already available on your device.
The Shiju icon and brand assets, the dododo symbol and the four decorative ornaments were created for this project using an image-generation tool. Screenshots are from this project's app; screenshots, icons and source code from the reference app are not distributed as assets. Prompts and source images are retained in the project.
